Inspired!

Yup, I was truly inspired! Last night I saw this incredible card by Vicky of Clips n Cuts. Here is her card:

Do you see how she dressed up the dress form??!!! SO CREATIVE! This morning I tried my hand on it. I changed it up a bit.

I know it is NOWHERE close to Vicky’s card but HEY! I had to try! This card is based on the sketch at Wee Memories and colour palette at Play Date Cafe. I didn’t want to do a pencil shaded image again for the Black white with a splash of purple challenge (PDC) so this is what I came up with.

I have used SIX ribbons on this one… I had something else on my mind for the top panel but I completely forgot that there was even a top panel in the sketch! This frilly ribbon was added at the last moment.

Making the skirt was quite tough! Here I have first stuck the white ribbon on to the purple organza one then attached the purple frilly ribbon beneath the white ribbon. I glued the metallic silver ribbon on to the purple frilly one to hide the joint. Then I added one more layer of white ribbon. Quite messy eh? My two way tape wouldn't have hold all the ribbon, this is why I used glue. Hope you like it! And please do try this! Such a wonderful idea! Vicky, you are one CREATIVE gal!

Ugly Flower

Hello hello!

I am feeling SO lazy since a couple of days. I made this day before yesterday and since then I am sitting idle. No crafty business. I have been watching movies and eating popcorn. I did sit yesterday to make something then gave up again.

                         

On to today’s card… it is based on the sketch over at Card Patterns. My main inspiration for this card is the “Metallic Color Challenge for Color Inspiration for Card Makers Week in the Moxie Fab World” (now say that quick!).

This is the first time I have tried to make this type of flower, looks horrendous here LOL but not so much IRL. The gem in the middle is from a broken earring. I applied sienna coloured glitter on the edges of the petals but did not cover the entire edge, just a bit here and there. The pink panel (bottom) is embossed using candy cane stripes and the flower embossing is Flower Rings.

I have enhanced the embossed flowers by first inking them slightly with (dusty plum and velvet) colorbox pigment inks and then painted over it with WHITE pearl paint. I think it enhances the bland cardstock, I distressed it’s edges too but it’s not showing too much here. I used the pigment inks on the lower pink panel too, just to make the stripes pop.

I forgot to outline the card with a gold marker, just close your eyes and picture how it would have looked! LOL

Hello everyone!

I just completed a card and wanted to show you guys SO BADLY! It is based on the challenge over at Make it Colourful. The theme is “Vintage Photos” (Monochrome)! SOOO my cup of tea, coffee, coke, EVERYTHING! LOL (you can def tell I am a bit excited—OK, A LOT excited). The card’s layout is based on the sketch at Friday Sketchers. Here’s my card:

This card has SO MUCH dimension it is not even funny! There is a whole lotta foamy/spongy two way tape used on this card! I know there is A LOT going on in the card and that is why I have two views for you so you can see all the dimension.

Okay so the image is shaded with lead pencil. The flourishes and the second layer from the image (doily type) are cut from Silhouette. The biggest circle is a pattern paper that I designed on PS. The last white layer has been embossed and the edges are inked using black pigment ink and silver chalk ink. Oh and that frame around the sentiment is also cut from Silhouette. The two, very tiny hearts on the sentiment frame are scrap bits from the doily.

You like??? I think I am missing something… glitter? or maybe pearls… huh! Don’t know! :/

Hello everyone! Hope all of you are well!

I made a card based on the sketch at Mojo Monday and GOD there are some GORGEOUS entries for the sketch challenge!! Even if you are not playing, I suggest you go and check out the entries… they are mind blowing! Wowsers!!!

Guess what! I turned on my camera yesterday and there were no lines on the display! I don’t know how long this will last so I took advantage of the situation and clicked quite a few photos! I love how the close up of the rosette looks in the picture above! (It’s just a good picture, it aint that pretty in real life! LOL). This is how the card ACTUALLY looks like.

I love these light colours and pastel shades, I don’t make cards like these because they are hard to keep clean! No seriously! Told you, Karachi is a dusty city!

Anyway! I have distressed the edges of both the PP and the black layer. Inked the edges of PP with dragonfly black color queue pigment ink (I think).The hearts are roughly drawn, cut and then painted with white pearl paint. I even painted the positive (raised) bits of the top embossed section. Here’s a picy…

You can see bit of a shimmer on the pattern paper too… Actually this paper is a printout, I used some free elements to design this paper. After I printed it, I sprayed it with (my favourite) Lacquer. In this way it remains protected and the ink won’t wash off if your water brush drips. You can try lacquer with normal cardstock (like I ALWAYS do), it adds a bit of shimmer (depending on how much you spray) and also makes the cardstock a bit sturdy.

Hellowww!!! I hope all of you are well! I am not doing so good myself… low BP and low blood sugar. So this is going to be a quick post!

The card that I am showing you today is based on the color palette at Playdate Cafe.

 

Shaded the image using normal lead pencils. The flowers are punched, some are colored with color pencils and a couple with normal markers. I have added a few rhinestones to fill in the spaces. The blue paper is an internet download, I have embossed and distressed it with chalk inks to give it a “shabby chic” feel.

Hello everyone! I love the card that I have to show you today! It is gorgeous! It’s based on a sketch at Lucy’s cards. I loved the sketches there! So simple and “uncluttered”!

I designed the turquoise paper on Photoshop. I outlined it with a silver marker. The butterfly is a free cut file.

Hello hello!!

Today’s card is based on the sketch at fairymoon crafts. Added a lot of texture on this one huh!

“Absa-freakin-lutely”; I use this word A LOT… So I thought why not make a sentiment out of it… This is how it all started and then I wanted to make a card focusing on the image itself. And this is what I came up with. I am loving this folder(cuttlebug one)! it looks SO “supermanly” LOL

The card is not AS SHINY as it seems… it looks cool! I made this keeping in mind one of my best buds who is a guy… I don’t think that I will be giving this to him… he will shove it in his cupboard or something… GUYS! typical!

Okay so there is one freebie today but in three different styles. Hope you like it! Hope you can use it for your absafreakinlutely awesome friend!

Ribbons…

Hellow everyone! I hope all of you are well and kicking! If you aren't, I hope that you get better soon! *HUGS*

My silhouette mat’s stickiness has given up after  3-4? cuts… WOWSERS! I expected it to last at least till ten cuts or so! Karachi is a very “dusty” place… and on top of that I have 25 cats… so you get the point how it lost its stickiness…  :/ Well I am looking for “repositionable adhesive” here… I hope I find it!

On to today’s card!

It is a simple card… I wanted the ribbons to be the focus of this card. All three ribbons look great IRL and so does the card. Bought hell loads of ribbon a couple of days back, including these three, and now I am officially left with no money LOL! The sentiment is hand written. I have outlined the base and the kraft layer with a gold marker… Hope you guys like it!

10 Best Cards of 2010!

Happy New Year!!!

I have seen some amazing cards all around Blogville… Here are my 10 best cards (cards that I like, not necessarily the best ones), starting from the oldest of 2010 to the newest.

1. And then there was a time I had no punches and used to make handmade flowers.

2. My first ever “sentiment-as-focal point-card”

3. My first attempt at Vintage.

4. Again, handmade flowers and hand drawn leaves.

5. Here comes the punches, but still added handmade flowers! LOL

6. My love for glitter :) also… handmade flower! hehe

9. First time I used chalk inks. I love this card… this is So not what I do.. but I think I should make more cards like this one here!
