Hello BLOGVILLE!

Like the flower??? I do!

01122010904

Alrighty, starting from the argyle design… these two stamps are part of the limited edition Schlosser Design’s Autumn Blessings. I used one of the stamps on THIS card. The frame stamp is also from the same company. The sentiment was a gift from, the incredibly sweet, Stef! The swirl is hand drawn. Outlined it with steel grey glitter (Hi Tejal, I know you are smiling!). The flower is hand made. The flower is gorgeous, I have colored it with three shades of purple and two shades of grey. Finished up the white layer with some hand stitching.

The smaller flap/layer is grey people… I distressed it with purple and some sandy colored pencils and chalk inks.

Now the interesting part. The black layer. Can you see its all shiny and glossy? well that is a plain, matte card stock (the same that I have used as a base card) turned into this glossy beauty by spraying it generously (3-4 times) with Lacquer.

If you want to try this, I suggest that you wait between times of spraying… let the first layer dry… otherwise you will have to wait overnight so that you don't smudge the lacquer when sticking it on your card (we are an impatient crowd, no one wants to wait over night). It is an aerosol paint, so I really don't think that you can use your heat gun to dry it LOL. Do this in an open space or a very well ventilated room… you don’t want to have poisoned lungs like mine :P

If you just spray the card stock lightly then you will achieve a shimmery effect. You can leave it at that too, it looks great! This helps giving life to a very plain, un-textured card stock. The more you spray, the glossier it will get.

Let me know if you try this!

Till then!

Fabulous card. I love the embossed panel - it almost looks like some sort of fancy leather. The flower is also fabulous and what a steady hand you have to be able to draw such a perfect flourish. Thanks for joining us at Delightful Challenges.
Hugs!
