Colour Blocking 2.0

SECOND post of the day. Click HERE for previous post.

DSC03920

Hey there peeps! I am back with an almost similar colour block card and a wee bit on colour blocking.

DSC03917

The butterfly is a bad Silhouette cut which I recycled by spray painting over it and adding some Pie Lane jumbo glitter.

Embossing: sizzix texture plate- distressed. Sentiment: HA

Challenges: SSD92, Do More with Less

COLOUR BLOCKING

So what’s the similarity between both my colour blocked cards apart from the sketch? It’s the use of bold, bright colours.  Above I have used contrasting yet complimentary colours together… this is colour blocking. Usually the colours used for colour blocking are very bold and bright but in card making I have seen many people use colours of the same family, for example; navy, blue, sky blue. Usually three to four colours are used to give the look of colour block. You can choose any colours as long as its pleasing to the eye or it can turn into a complete “clownish” disaster.

I have a few pictures I got from Google to show you some colour blocking examples.

I really like the black sponging on the edges. It really makes the bright colors pop! Oh, and I am still so jealous that you have Pie Lane and I don't! :-)

WOW! You are seriously a genius. Loved the lesson on colour blocking. Your card is a stunner. If that is a bad silhouette cut, you should see the way the cricut cuts (I'm SO glad you got a silhouette instead). It's so much more intricate. The glittered sprayed butterfly is gorgeous!
